Bylaws
S145 of the Local Government Acts of 1974 and 2002 state that:
A territorial authority may make bylaws for its district for 1 or more of the following purposes:
- protecting the public from nuisance
- protecting, promoting and maintaining public health and safety
- minimising the potential for offensive behaviour in public places.
Bylaws are required to be consulted on every five or ten years. Refer to the Consultations section for information on any bylaw that is being consulted on.
