Grants for Repair Cafes and Other Repair Activities
Grants to encourage a culture of repair and reuse.
Repair cafes have an important role to play in supporting a culture of reduce and reuse. It’s also an opportunity for volunteers to share their knowledge and teach people new skills to repair everyday items rather than throw them away. The repair café movement is a global phenomenon and provides a range of benefits to our community, which is why Nelson City Council is providing a grants programme to support Nelson projects.
Other community/not for profit activities to support repair will be considered, such as developing directories of where items can be repaired, tool libraries, etc.
Up to $10,000 in total is available for these projects, with a minimum grant size of $1000.
We also wish to see evidence of kaupapa Māori (the Māori worldview) being considered where applicable.
The next round of grants opened 30 September and will close 1 November 2024. Apply now.
Applicants applying for grants over $5000 are required to discuss their project before applying with an Waste Minimisation Advisor – please email rethinkwaste@ncc.govt.nz
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of officers with specialist experience, and applicants will be invited to speak to their applications if they wish.
Please read the Rethink Waste grant applicant guidelines before applying. (219KB PDF)
